Tuckahoe Announcements
Thanksgiving Letter
November 21, 2011
Dear Tuckahoe Families and Community Partners:
We wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.
Our students, teachers, and staff have been working hard during the school year and are looking forward to enjoying a Happy Thanksgiving. We hope everyone will enjoy the Thanksgiving Holidays as a time to pause, to relax, and to give thanks. The holidays provide a wonderful opportunity to be with friends and family members. As we gather in our homes or enjoy travels to celebrate America’s thankful expression of harvest and of giving thanks, we remember that this new school year is also a time to remember the fall’s accomplishments and achievements that honor our school and community.
Thanks are offered to all. Our parents have been active in school activities, conferences, PTO events, and volunteer projects. Our students have enjoyed success in academics, club activities, cross country, football, soccer, cheering, band and choral events. Our medical staff has provided health awareness, vision screening with classroom health educational guidance, and focused excellently on student and community health issues. Our cafeteria staff has increased our student participation in the breakfast program with a continuous emphasis on wellness. Our facility maintenance and new materials have increased the attractiveness and appearance of our school and grounds. Our school bus drivers have provided safe and efficient transportation to our students. Finally, we are thankful that each child has been provided a rich daily school learning environment to grow.
The school year has provided wonderful opportunities for our children’s futures. We will continue to prepare our students to be successful. Our school principal and staff are ready to respond to any questions you may have. The school year offers a wonderful opportunity for teachers and staff to refresh their commitment to supporting children in their learning. Parent involvement remains essential for success in school and throughout life. In fact, the most accurate predictor of a student's achievement in school is how well families encourage learning, set high expectations for achievement, and become involved in their child's education and community.
We thank you for your involvement and support for our schools. We welcome your partnership in your child's education today and in the year ahead. Please join the PTO when they meet next on 15 December. Special thanks to the PTO for our Thanksgiving Feast. The Feast was great!
Again, the best of Thanksgivings are wished for you and your family.
Respectfully,
Chris Dyer
Superintendent
